What the heck is a long doggy?
Roy was our Standard Poodle. He was an amazing dog: smart, loving, and loyal. He was able to charm people that “don’t like poodles” or “don’t like dogs”. He even modeled for two oil paintings.
Although my wife debates me on this, Roy was named after the Walmart dog food, “Old Roy”. Even during college I would joke that when I got a dog, it would be named Roy. If it was good enough for Sam Walton, it would be good enough for me.
The name Long Doggy started not long after Roy joined our family. He would jump onto our king sized bed, extend his legs forwards and backwards, and attempt to cover all available space. We appropriately started call him Long Doggy Roy, the Long Doggy, or the Longest of the Doggies. I in turn adopted LongDoggyRoy as my persona in the game Halo which lives on to this day.
Long Doggy was one of the many names we used over the 11 years of Roy’s life. Others included:

- Mutter
- Mutter Lee
- Pirate Mutter
- Others that I can’t remember…
